Sell your business
Sell your solar or battery storage (BESS) business to a buyer who delivers them.
We buy 40% to 100% of owner-managed commercial solar PV and battery storage businesses with £1m to £80m revenue. We run an EPC ourselves, so we can read a project pipeline and an O&M book the way you do.
No NDA at this stage. No accounts required. No obligation.
Who buys solar and BESS businesses
Who buys solar and battery storage businesses in the UK?
Verdani Capital buys 40% to 100% of owner-managed commercial solar PV and battery storage (BESS) businesses with £1m to £80m revenue, keeps the team and the name, and runs them for the long term. Developers, infrastructure funds and private equity backed platforms are the other buyers in this market.
Solar and storage businesses are unusual to sell. Revenue arrives in large, uneven blocks. A single delayed grid connection can move a year’s profit into the next. Many buyers respond to that by discounting everything they cannot see contracted, which can leave a lot of value on the table.
We know this from the inside. Armex Energy, part of our Renewables group, delivers EPC work across battery storage, solar PV and energy infrastructure. We understand DNO timescales, equipment lead times, liquidated damages and the way developer clients actually behave, because we deal with all of them.
That lets us separate risk that is real from risk that simply looks unfamiliar, and structure a deal that pays you fairly for both.
Due diligence, in plain terms
What a buyer looks at in a solar or BESS business
A buyer starts with earnings, then asks how repeatable they are. In solar and storage, these four things carry most of the weight.
Signed EPC contracts, their margin, and realistic delivery dates. Pipeline is useful, contracted work is what gets paid for.
Operation and maintenance contracts give recurring income between projects. Their length and renewal record lift the multiple.
Liquidated damages, performance guarantees, bonds and warranties. A buyer wants to see what you have signed up to and how often it has been called on.
Repeat work from several developers and asset owners, delivered by designers and project managers who do not rely on the owner for every decision.

After completion
What happens to your team, your name and your customers
Your team, your name and your client relationships stay in place. We retain the brand and the team in 99% of our acquisitions.
Developers and asset owners choose their EPC on track record and on the people who will be on site. We keep both. Your engineers, commissioning staff and project managers keep the same employer and terms. Your accreditations and insurances stay with the company, and live projects carry on with the same team delivering them.
In many solar and storage businesses the founder still wins the work, holds the developer relationships and makes the call on every tender. We agree with you how that is shared out over time. Where the upside in your pipeline is real, a partnership structure means you keep a stake in it rather than handing it over. Alongside the capital, we bring operational resources to grow the business and to streamline its operations, systems and processes.

More than capital
The operational resources behind every solar and battery storage business we buy.
Verdani is an operating group, so a business that joins us gets people, systems and finance behind it from day one: operators who have scaled businesses in these trades, a group services company that provides management support and resource, in-house IT and cyber security, and finance leadership that builds the reporting a growing business needs.
Sales leadership, cross-selling across the group, framework and tender support, and bolt-on acquisitions funded and run by us.
Scott has led teams of 500+ and scaled a contractor from £20m to £80m. Job costing, scheduling, fleet, procurement and margin discipline, improved from experience rather than from a consultant’s deck.
Operational technology, IT and cyber security through Verdani Solutions, and the finance systems and monthly reporting we put in so decisions are made on real numbers.
Verdani Services Limited provides management and resource across the portfolio: HR, compliance, accreditations, insurance and back-office, so your team can concentrate on the work.
None of it is imposed. We agree with you what the business needs, and the team keeps running the business. Meet the people who do this on the team page.

Selling to Verdani vs a trade consolidator vs private equity
How the main buyer types typically differ for an owner-managed solar or BESS business.
| What happens to | Verdani Capital | Trade consolidator | Private equity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your name and brand | Kept in 99% of cases | Often absorbed into the buyer’s brand | Sometimes kept, often merged into a platform brand |
| Engineers and project team | Retained, by design | Design and project roles often merged | Usually kept, with cost targets in the plan |
| Your involvement | Your choice: stay, step back gradually, or go | Usually a short handover | Often required to stay and hit targets |
| Value in your pipeline | You can keep equity and share in it | Often discounted or left out | Often tied to an earn-out |
| Timeline | 8 to 14 weeks typically | Varies with the buyer’s integration plans | Often longer, with committee sign-off |
| Who decides | The people on your first call | A corporate development team and board | An investment committee you rarely meet |
| Exit horizon | Long-term hold, no planned resale | Long-term, as part of a larger group | Typically a sale within three to seven years |

Straight answers
Selling a solar or battery storage business, answered.
Who buys solar and battery storage companies in the UK?
Buyers include energy developers, infrastructure funds, private equity backed platforms and operator-led acquirers such as Verdani Capital. Verdani buys 40% to 100% of commercial solar PV and battery storage EPC and O&M businesses with £1m to £80m revenue, and already runs Armex Energy, an EPC delivering solar, battery storage and energy infrastructure.
How much is my solar business worth?
Most owner-managed solar and BESS businesses are valued as a multiple of sustainable EBITDA. EPC businesses with lumpy project revenue sit lower. Those with a contracted order book, repeat developer clients and a recurring O&M book sit higher. Because project profits swing year to year, a real figure needs three years of accounts and a look at the pipeline.
Can I sell my solar business and keep my staff?
Yes. Experienced solar and battery storage engineers, designers and project managers are hard to find, and they are a large part of what we buy. In a share sale their employer and terms do not change, and we keep the team in 99% of our acquisitions.
How is a battery storage pipeline valued when I sell?
Contracted work is valued on the margin it will earn. Pipeline that is not yet contracted gets little weight in the price, because grid connection dates and project finance can move. Where there is real upside in the pipeline, a partnership structure lets you keep equity and share in the value when those projects are delivered.
What happens to my O&M contracts if I sell my solar company?
They stay with the company in a share sale. Operation and maintenance contracts are some of the most valuable revenue in the business, so we look at their length, renewal history and service levels early. Where a contract has a change-of-control clause, we agree with you how and when the client is told.
Do you buy underperforming solar or battery storage businesses?
Yes, where we already operate in the sector, and solar and storage is one of them. Verdani has turnaround experience and runs Armex Energy, an EPC in solar and battery storage, so we can put real operating support behind a business that has lost its way. An underperforming solar or BESS business is worth a conversation. Outside the sectors the group already trades in, we only buy profitable businesses.
